Clippers, Jazz swap veteran point guards

LOS ANGELES, July 23 (UPI) -- In swap of veteran point guards Wednesday, the Los Angeles Clippers reacquired Jason Hart from the Utah Jazz for Brevin Knight.

The 6-foot-3 Hart, who played scholastically in nearby Inglewood before matriculating to Syracuse, played in 57 games for the Jazz last season, averaging 2.9 points and 1.5 assists.

"He played an important role for us when he was here previously, and we think he will be a valuable component this time, as well," said Elgin Baylor, vice president of basketball operations.

Hart averaged nine points and four assists in the 23 games for the Clippers in the 2006-07 season.

The 6-foot Knight, 32, has averaged 7.9 points and 6.6 assists in 655 career regular-season games while playing for eight different teams.

In the 2007 off-season, he signed a free agent contract with the Clippers and played in 74 games with averages of 4.6 points and 4.4 assists.

He was a first-round pick by Cleveland in the 1997 NBA draft.
